Sarawak Tourism Board wins PATA Gold Award for drone relay

The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) has been named the Grand Title Winner in the Marketing category at the 2026 PATA Gold Awards. The recognition was presented during a gala dinner in Kuching on August 18, 2026, as part of the PATA Travel Mart.

The award honors STB’s Guinness World Record-breaking initiative involving the longest cumulative distance by a remote-controlled multirotor/drone relay. The project, completed on December 31, 2025, featured 128 continuous flight segments covering 1,706.7 kilometers across Sarawak to capture aerial footage of the region's landscapes. This campaign was designed to promote the state ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026 through the use of emerging technology and innovative storytelling.
