Sardar Muhammad Yousaf urges creation of Hazara province
Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Hazara Province Movement Chairman Sardar Muhammad Yousaf has called for the immediate creation of a separate Hazara province. Speaking at a convention in Haripur, Yousaf stated that the demand is based on administrative necessity to bring government services closer to citizens and prevent public frustration.
Yousaf noted that the movement is currently pursuing constitutional and parliamentary channels, highlighting that resolutions in favor of the province have already been passed three times by the provincial assembly. He mentioned that bills regarding the matter were introduced in the National Assembly in 2019 by both government and opposition members. He further claimed that both political and military leadership have expressed support for the creation of new provinces.
Senator Talha Mahmood identified Haripur as the potential economic center of the new province, asserting that the region possesses sufficient resources to sustain itself and contribute to the national economy. Former federal minister Murtaza Javed Abbasi added that the residents of Hazara would only accept the creation of new provinces if Hazara is included in the new administrative structure.
