Sardinia agricultural group seeks extension on new protection zones

The Centro Studi Agricoli Sardegna (CSA) has requested a minimum 30-day extension from the regional government to submit observations regarding three proposed Special Protection Zones (ZPS) in Sardinia. The proposed areas include ‘Monte Forte – Nurra – Lago di Baratz’, an expansion of the ‘Costa ed entroterra di Bosa, Suni e Montresta’ zone, and an internal area spanning several municipalities including Ozieri, Mores, and Tempio Pausania.

The CSA expressed concerns that the current October 31 deadline is too close given the scale of the areas involved and the potential impact on agricultural businesses, livestock farming, and hunting activities. President Tore Piana stated that many operators lack precise information regarding boundaries, specific land parcels, and conservation measures. The organization is also calling for three public meetings to be held within the affected territories to ensure local communities can provide informed feedback.
