Sardinia allocates 11 million euros for cyclone damage recovery

The Sardinia region has allocated 11 million euros to support the restoration of territories affected by extreme weather events in early 2026. The funding follows the impact of cyclones Harry and Oriana, which caused significant damage to various municipalities and industrial sectors.

Of the total amount, 10 million euros are designated for municipalities to repair damage to public assets, based on 1,438 municipal reports. An additional 1 million euros is earmarked for large industrial areas to repair infrastructure, plants, and equipment, as well as to recover materials and goods swept into the seabed by exceptional storm surges.

Environment Councilor Rosanna Laconi emphasized that the emergency response continues beyond the initial rescue phase, noting the importance of restoring ordinary conditions to infrastructure and affected activities. The funds are intended to assist both public and private entities damaged by the storms.
