Sardinia allocates 50 million euros to align local government wages
The Sardinia Regional Council has approved a plan to progressively align the salaries of local government employees with those of regional personnel. A total of 50 million euros will be allocated to cover this gap, consisting of 30 million euros already earmarked and an additional 20 million euros expected through a budget amendment on November 10.
Sebastian Cocco, the Regional Councilor for General Affairs, Personnel, and Reform, stated that the measure aims to translate allocated resources into economic benefits for workers. The initiative follows a survey of 429 local entities, identifying approximately 12,700 eligible recipients.
The regional government has provided guidelines to Aran Sardegna to define a specific contract for non-managerial staff. This will include a fixed and continuous single-sector indemnity, differentiated by professional area and proportional to the national local functions contract.
