Sardinia allocates funds for local police and urban planning

The Sardinia regional government has approved two separate funding measures to support local municipalities.

A total of 6 million euros will be distributed between 2026 and 2028 to strengthen local police forces and improve urban security across 14 municipalities, including Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro, Oristano, Olbia, and Alghero. The allocation, proposed by Regional Assessor Francesco Spanedda, aims to enhance territory monitoring, mobility, and public space management. Funding distribution will be based on resident population, territorial extension, and supra-municipal functions.

Additionally, over 5.5 million euros has been allocated to assist municipalities in drafting and updating urban planning tools in alignment with the Regional Landscape Plan. This funding includes approximately 3.9 million euros for municipal urban plans, 1.62 million euros for detailed plans in historic centers, and 13,500 euros for industrial settlement plans. The initiative seeks to help local administrations manage territorial transformations and value existing heritage.
