Sardinia approves 2026 major sporting events program

The regional government of Sardinia has approved a program for major world-class sporting events to be held in the region during 2026. The initiative aims to strengthen Sardinia’s tourism brand and generate positive economic impacts and tourist flows.

Proposed by Regional Tourism Assessor Franco Cuccureddu and developed in collaboration with the regional Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) and the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the program will be funded using resources allocated for the 2026 fiscal year. The plan specifically prioritizes events held during the low season and those with a long-standing history in the region to maximize media coverage and global brand value.
