Sardinia beer sector grows with 4 million liters produced annually

The beer sector in Sardinia is experiencing significant growth, according to data from the Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna study office. By the end of 2025, the island had 45 active brewing companies, including 20 artisanal breweries, marking an increase of nine businesses since 2021.

Annual production in Sardinia has reached approximately 4 million liters. Consumption remains high, with over 750,000 residents consuming beer, resulting in an annual expenditure exceeding 70 million euros. The industry supports approximately 300 direct jobs and an additional 400 positions within related sectors such as agriculture, logistics, catering, packaging, and consultancy.

Sardinia currently ranks seventh in Italy for the number of exclusively artisanal breweries. The sector is increasingly utilizing local ingredients, including myrtle, honey, citrus fruits, and island cereals, alongside a rise in local barley production. Giacomo Meloni, president of Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna, noted that the artisanal sector serves as an important driver for the local economy, creating value across tourism, commerce, and agriculture.
