Sardinia car tax amnesty: Michele Pais demands regional clarity
Michele Pais, a representative of the Lega party and former President of the Regional Council of Sardinia, has called for clarity from the Sardinia Region regarding its participation in the national car tax amnesty program.
National legislation has extended the option for facilitated tax settlements for both tax and non-tax debts incurred between 2000 and 2023. To participate, regional and local entities were required to adopt a specific measure, publish it on their institutional websites, and notify the Revenue Agency by the July 31 deadline.
Pais expressed concern over the lack of communication from the regional government, questioning whether Sardinia has adhered to the program and if car tax debts are included. He noted that taxpayer applications for this amnesty are scheduled to be submitted between October 16 and December 15, 2026.
