Sardinia extends deadline for forest heritage projects

The Sardinia Regional Government has extended the deadline for starting projects aimed at increasing, maintaining, and enhancing the region's forest heritage. Following a proposal by Environmental Defense Councilor Rosanna Laconi, the new deadline for commencing works funded by 2025 contributions is November 30, 2026.

The measure concerns 12 million euros allocated to 185 Sardinian municipalities. The extension addresses operational and procedural difficulties reported by beneficiary administrations. It also accounts for forest police regulations and the regional plan for wildfire prevention, which restricts certain activities during the summer months.

Municipalities must start works and submit a formal declaration signed by the works director by the new deadline. Failure to provide this certification will result in the revocation of the contribution and the withdrawal of funds by the General Directorate for Environmental Defense.
