Sardinia featured in special week of ‘Il Provinciale’ on Rai 3

The television program ‘Il Provinciale’ is dedicating a special week to exploring the identity and culture of Sardinia. Airing on Rai 3 from Monday, September 21, to Friday, September 25, the series hosted by Federico Quaranta will travel from Gallura to Barbagia.

The program aims to examine the island's foundational elements, including music, ancient history, agropastoral life, and spirituality, while challenging external stereotypes. The first episode focuses on the relationship between the island and mainlanders, using the experience of musician Fabrizio De André at L'Agnata in Tempio Pausania as a starting point. Guests include writer Flavio Soriga and musicians Moses Concas and Sandro Fresi.

The second episode will explore the darker aspects of Sardinian history, specifically the phenomena of banditry and feuds, by visiting the town of Aggius and its local banditry museum. This segment will feature an interview with Luca Locci, who was kidnapped in 1978, and explore the local ‘cantu a concordu’ choral traditions.
