Sardinia launches €9 million paid internship program for youth

The Sardinia regional government announced a new paid‑internship scheme for young residents aged 18 to 35. Funded with €9 million from the Sardinia Youth Plan 2025‑2029, the six‑month placements will be organised through the network of employment centres (Aspal) and will target companies and public bodies on the island.

Two tracks are offered: a standard extracurricular internship with a gross monthly allowance of €500 and a “High‑Competence” track for highly qualified profiles paying €1,000 per month. Labour Assessor Desirè Manca highlighted the aim of strengthening professional skills, retaining talent on the island and supporting local businesses. According to recent national monitoring, similar programmes achieve a 55.5 % average job‑placement rate within six months, rising to 64.5 % for four‑to‑six‑month courses.
