Sardinia records two separate fatal shootings in July
On July 12, a 35‑year‑old man, Daniele Cacciarru, was shot dead in Santadi, Sardinia, after a dispute linked to alleged drug use and trafficking. Police detained a 61‑year‑old man suspected of firing the rifle and are investigating the incident, which began when Cacciarru and two others confronted the suspect on his property.
Later the same day in Cagliari, a 52‑year‑old man opened fire on the owner of a dance school after being denied enrollment. After the assault, he turned the gun on himself and died. Police recovered two 12‑gauge shells and are interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Both investigations are ongoing, with local Carabinieri and judicial authorities conducting forensic examinations and gathering testimony.
