Sardinia Region allocates €2.14 million to 166 barracellari companies
The autonomous Sardinian regional government approved a budget of €2,140,800 for the 2026 fiscal year to support 166 local barracellari companies. The funds will cover operating expenses, insurance premiums, equipment and other necessary tools. Regional assessor for Local Entities, Finance and Urban Planning Francesco Spanedda said the investment strengthens “the capacity of communities to protect their territory, environmental and rural heritage and to support municipal administrations.”
The allocation also re‑opens the application deadline, allowing companies involved in forest fire prevention to apply, and reinforces incentives for companies that operate under agreements with municipalities lacking their own barracellari units. The measure is part of a broader push to simplify administrative procedures and promote collaboration between local authorities and these volunteer fire‑watch groups.
