Sardinia Regional Commission approves 2027-2029 economic plan

The Fifth Commission of the Sardinia Regional Council has issued a favorable opinion on the Regional Economy and Finance Document (DEFR) for the 2027-2029 period. This document outlines the regional government's priorities and updates the development plan for the upcoming three-year term.

Key objectives discussed include the “new routes” initiative, a call for proposals aimed at simplifying procedures for airlines to establish new flight paths. Under this plan, the Region will cover 50 percent of airport tax costs for both departure and arrival airports, provided the routes comply with EU regulations.

Other strategic priorities highlighted in the DEFR include enhancing public transport efficiency, developing cycling networks, completing metro lines in Cagliari and Sassari, and increasing maritime freight transport. The industrial sector will focus on energy transition, the establishment of a Regional Energy Company, and the promotion of renewable energy and energy communities. Additionally, the plan emphasizes industrial area upgrades, investment attraction, and the recovery of disused sites.
