Sardinian airport privatization faces political and legal scrutiny

The future of Sardinian airport management remains a point of intense political contention following investigations by the Court of Auditors and the Carabinieri into the proposed privatization process.

Regional President Alessandra Todde and the Campo Largo opposition have signaled a desire to restart the process, moving away from the current industrial partner selection method that lacks a public tender. This follows scrutiny regarding the preliminary agreement, or term sheet, signed in March. The agreement outlines the creation of a single management holding company led by F2i, which would hold a 50.25% stake.

In contrast, the center-right majority has dismissed these concerns, labeling the shift toward a ministerial airport network as a bluff. They maintain that the primary objective remains the transfer of Sardinian airports to F2i. Opponents argue that the regional administration is seeking delays to avoid a judicial decision that could terminate the privatization operation.
