Sardinian towns approve quarry sale and fund ex‑Municipio renovation

In the municipality of Gravina, the council criticised the executive’s decision to transfer the Graviglione quarry through a private negotiation rather than a public auction. Councillor Ignazio Lovero called the move short‑sighted and lacking community benefit, while assessor Leo Vicino defended the process.

Meanwhile, the town of San Gavino Monreale secured regional funding of €592,500 and an additional €360,000 for a public tender to refurbish the historic ex‑Municipio building in Piazza Marconi. Mayor Stefano Altea said the renovation will create a cultural centre for the community, with four exhibition and conference rooms.

Both decisions reflect local authorities’ efforts to manage public assets and stimulate urban renewal in Sardinia.
