Sardinian towns invest €2.3 million in school renovations

Italian municipalities in Sardinia are completing major school refurbishment projects. The Lattes preschool in Sassari concluded a €1.2 million energy‑saving overhaul, adding new insulation, windows and a solar‑powered heat‑pump system that raises the building to the highest energy class. The work, partly financed by European funds, allows children to return to the upgraded facility in September and was inspected by Mayor Giacomo Possamai, Public Works Assessor Cristiano Spiller and Education Assessor Giovanni Selmo.

In Porto Torres, the commune awarded a €1.075 million contract to restore the historic Edmondo De Amicis primary school. The project, funded by regional and municipal resources and carried out by the Italcentro Scarl consortium with Sirimed srl, will convert the building into a multi‑purpose cultural pole housing library archives, a student hub, a “university of the third age” and concert spaces. Both initiatives aim to improve educational environments and preserve local heritage while boosting community services.
