Sardinia's marble and natural stone sector remains a strategic economic pillar
The natural stone and marble industry remains a strategic economic sector in Sardinia. According to a report by the Confartigianato Imprese Sardegna Study Office, the sector comprises 416 active companies and employs 1,522 people.
Craftsmanship plays a disproportionately large role in the region compared to national averages. There are 182 artisanal enterprises employing 692 people, meaning artisans account for 46.2% of the sector's total employment in Sardinia, surpassing the Italian national average of 38.5%. While the industry is deeply rooted in the local territory through specialized skills, challenges remain regarding energy costs and the ability to directly manage international markets.
