Sareee pulled from AEW Owen Hart Cup due to neck concerns, Maya World replaces her

Sareee was scheduled to compete in the Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament on the June 10 edition of AEW Dynamite, but the promotion’s medical team did not clear her because of a lingering neck injury. Although Japanese doctors had given her clearance, AEW officials took a cautious approach and withdrew her from the match.

Sareee traveled to the United States, expressed disappointment but said she had no regrets about attempting to seize the opportunity. She had identified Takumi Iroha as a potential substitute, but Iroha’s backup appearance was also cancelled. Maya World, who had recently endured a family tragedy, was announced as Sareee’s replacement in the tournament, and Sareee indicated she remains open to future AEW appearances.
