Sarfaraz Khan uses verbal pressure during India vs Sri Lanka Test
During the second Test match between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo, Sarfaraz Khan became a central figure despite not being in the starting XI. Serving as a substitute fielder for the injured Rishabh Pant, Sarfaraz was stationed at short leg and engaged in persistent verbal chatter directed at Sri Lankan batters.
His sledging specifically targeted Sri Lankan captain Dhananjaya de Silva. After de Silva paused play due to movement behind the bowler, Sarfaraz urged him to focus, telling him, “Nothing is there, bro. You are looking there. You are just wasting time, bro. Don't be scared.” Shortly after this exchange, de Silva was dismissed by Manav Suthar for eight runs.
Sarfaraz continued his verbal pressure with Niroshan Dickwella, who was subsequently dismissed by Mohammed Siraj. India's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, later expressed support for the player's approach.
