Sarfraz Bugti warns Balochistan property owners over militant land use
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti has warned property owners in Mastung that they could be treated as facilitators if their land, such as vineyards or orchards, is used by militants to launch attacks against security forces or government officials. Bugti stated that owners cannot claim ignorance if terrorism is conducted from their private property. He noted that the government may resort to large-scale relocation of residents or the destruction of vineyards if these areas continue to be used for militant activities.
In response, the Baloch Voice for Justice has condemned these remarks, describing them as threats to civilian livelihoods and a potential violation of fundamental rights. The group expressed concern that targeting agricultural land could constitute collective punishment and urged international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and the United Nations, to investigate the situation in Balochistan.
