Sarh launches “Les Femmes d’Abord” project to support girls' education
The “Les Femmes d’Abord” project was officially launched on September 26, 2026, at the Palais des Arts et de la Culture Ngarta Tombalbaye in Sarh, Chad. Spearheaded by the “Les Leaders de Sarh” community with various partner support, the initiative aims to promote girls' education and combat school dropout rates.
In its initial phase, the project will provide specific support to 38 young girls ranging from primary school to high school. Beyond academic assistance, the program includes training in income-generating activities, financial management, entrepreneurship, and small business development to foster female autonomy.
Project coordinator Noudjal Evelyne Taday emphasized that academic success requires a supportive family and social environment, stating, “Each contribution, however modest, can help build a better future for a girl and strengthen the autonomy of a woman.” Kidana Tamoula, the delegate for Women and Early Childhood for Moyen-Chari, also called for community-wide mobilization to invest in girls' education.
