Sarh: Three children die after non-medicalized circumcisions
Three children from the same family have died in Sarh, Chad, following non-medicalized circumcision procedures. The incident occurred in the Kissimi neighborhood of the 6th municipal arrondissement.
On August 22, 2026, five children were circumcised by a former security guard of the Outel Bono Provincial Hospital. The father, Mamara Eric, reported that he accepted the proposal from a neighbor due to financial constraints. He spent approximately 25,000 CFA francs on requested medications and was permitted to pay a 2,000 CFA franc service fee at a later date.
Following the procedure, the children experienced severe pain and bleeding. Although the individual who performed the procedure returned to administer injections and remove bandages, the children's health rapidly deteriorated. Two children passed away on August 25, and a third died on August 26 after being referred to the Outel Bono Provincial Hospital.
