Sariñena building collapse kills one worker and injures two

A building collapse in Sariñena, Huesca, has resulted in the death of one worker and left two others injured. The incident occurred around midday on Thursday during the demolition of a three-story uninhabited private residence on Calle José Fatás.

Three workers were inside the building when it collapsed. One worker managed to escape on his own, while the other two were trapped under the rubble. Emergency services, including firefighters from the Diputación Provincial de Huesca and reinforcements from Huesca and Zaragoza, conducted a rescue operation. One trapped worker was rescued alive and evacuated for medical treatment, while the second worker was confirmed deceased.

The Sariñena City Council has declared an official day of mourning for Friday, August 28, and has suspended scheduled cultural and local festivities in response to the tragedy. This incident brings the total number of workplace fatalities in the Aragon region to 21 this year.
