Sarmiento celebrates 118th anniversary with musical tributes

The department of Sarmiento is preparing to celebrate its 118th anniversary this weekend at the Riviello premises in Media Agua. Following two weeks of intensive preparation, the five-hectare site has been renovated to accommodate thousands of visitors, including improvements to access roads, the establishment of a large parking area on Eugenio Vargas Street, and the installation of essential services for food stalls and traditional ranchos.

The festivities include a diverse musical lineup. Saturday's opening will feature Valentino Merlo, while Sunday will be dedicated to an emotional tribute to the late Chango Huaqueño, featuring local artists and a headline performance by Los Nocheros.

In addition to the musical performances, the event will host gaucho groups performing traditional skills and games in a dedicated enclosed area, alongside various folklore academies and regional dancers on a large-scale stage.
