Sarmiento Train Line reopens central platforms in Ramos Mejía and Ciudadela

After nine years of inactivity, the central platforms at the Ramos Mejía and Ciudadela stations on the Sarmiento electric train line (Once-Moreno branch) have resumed service. The platforms had been out of use since 2017.

At Ramos Mejía, Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura completed an integral reconstruction of the central platform, which included building new stairs, an access ramp, regulatory tactile flooring, and passenger shelters. The project also involved installing a SUBE access module and connecting the platform to the pedestrian tunnel.

At Ciudadela, Trenes Argentinos Operaciones focused on upgrading the central platform with new lighting, arrival monitors, SUBE modules, and surveillance cameras.

The reopening allows trains to utilize the central tracks, increasing the number of available platforms to four. This change is expected to optimize service scheduling, provide better operational alternatives during contingencies, and reduce the risk of incidents with vehicles at level crossings by moving train traffic to the internal tracks.
