Saronno citizens organize meeting over 22 proposed data centers

The newly formed Osservatorio Data Center Saronnese has organized a public meeting on October 5 at the Auditorium Aldo Moro in Saronno to address concerns regarding the potential construction of 22 data centers within a ten-kilometer radius of the area.

Local citizens, community groups, and activists are seeking clarity on the impact these facilities might have on the territory and quality of life, as well as the specific authorization processes within the Lombardy region. The meeting will feature Enrico Duranti, an expert on data centers in Lombardy and a co-author of a document regarding the movement against irrational data center development.

The initiative follows a lack of institutional communication regarding the proposed facilities, which are expected to affect Saronno and several surrounding municipalities.
