Saros Gulf hosts inaugural open water swimming race
The first Saros Gulf Open Water Swimming Race is being held at Göçetepe Nature Park. Organized by the Edirne Provincial Representative of the Turkish Swimming Federation, the event aims to promote open water swimming culture and boost regional sports tourism.
The race features a unique 1,200-meter course that includes a tank shipwreck as a key landmark. An honor award will be presented to the first swimmer to reach the shipwreck. The event follows recent environmental initiatives in the Saros Gulf, such as the Artificial Reef Project, which involved submerging miniature models of symbolic local structures to support the marine ecosystem and diving tourism.
