Sarthe experiences extreme heatwave and localized fire incidents
The Sarthe department in France is experiencing a persistent heatwave, with temperatures reaching extreme levels. In Connerré, a peak of 41 degrees Celsius was recorded on Thursday, and temperatures are expected to approach 37 degrees again on Friday.
Tropical nights have become common, with nighttime temperatures in the Le Mans area failing to drop below 20 degrees Celsius. Relief is expected by Sunday when an oceanic air mass is forecasted to arrive, potentially dropping temperatures below 30 degrees and improving air quality.
In a separate incident in the town of La Flèche, emergency services responded to a vehicle fire in a private courtyard on Rue Brasseur. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze quickly, preventing it from spreading to nearby residential buildings.
