Sarıyer police detain teenager for firing Kalashnikov rifle

A 14-year-old suspect, identified as K. D., was detained in Istanbul’s Sarıyer district after firing a Kalashnikov rifle into the air in front of a residence to intimidate an individual with whom he had a prior grudge.

Police from the Sarıyer District Police Department recovered five empty shell casings at the scene in the Çayırbaşı neighborhood. Following an investigation of security footage, authorities located the Kalashnikov hidden inside a navy blue bag within the upholstery of a sofa in an abandoned two-story building.

In a separate incident during patrols, police detained a 17-year-old, B. S., for carrying an unlicensed handgun. Additionally, three individuals—Serkan E., Hakan E., and Haktan E.—were taken into custody for resisting police officers. K. D. and B. S. have been referred to the courthouse on charges including violating firearms laws and intentionally endangering public safety.
