SaS leader Branislav Gröhling unveils post-Fico economic vision
Branislav Gröhling, leader of the Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) party, has presented a new political program aimed at providing an alternative to the government of Robert Fico. Describing the program as right-wing, pro-business, and non-populist, Gröhling emphasized that the party intends to focus on what happens after the Fico administration.
To stimulate the economy, Gröhling stated that the state may need to implement austerity measures for months or even years. He noted that while measures such as reducing state aid, cutting the number of ministries, and ending free services like lunches or train travel might be unpopular, they are necessary to avoid economic instability similar to Greece's situation.
SaS intends to run independently in the upcoming National Council elections to maintain its distinct identity. While the party seeks to cooperate with other opposition groups, such as Progressive Slovakia or KDH, in local and regional elections, it maintains a policy of not forming coalitions with Smer-SD, Hlas-SD, SNS, or Republika.
