Sasa Ognenovski appointed Macarthur FC head coach

Macarthur FC has appointed former Socceroos defender Sasa Ognenovski as its new head coach for the A-League Men. The appointment comes following the mutual departure of previous coach Mile Sterjovski.

Ognenovski, who most recently served as football director for NPL Victoria side Preston Lions FC, has signed a contract that runs until the end of the 2027-28 campaign. This marks his first top-flight head coaching role. His playing career includes 22 appearances for the Australian national team and a notable stint in South Korea with Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma, where he captained the team to an AFC Champions League title in 2010.

In a statement, Ognenovski expressed his desire to build a strong football program and establish high professional standards. He stated that fans can expect an entertaining brand of football played with bravery and purpose.
