SASE architecture discussed as solution for modern cybersecurity
The Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) model is being highlighted as a way to mitigate risks in modern IT landscapes, particularly following vulnerabilities exposed in traditional network architectures. SASE integrates networking and security technologies, utilizing Zero Trust principles to connect users, devices, and locations directly to cloud services rather than routing all traffic through a central data center.
Key components of the SASE framework include SD-WAN (Software-defined Wide Area Network) for software-based traffic management and SSE (Security Service Edge) for cloud-based access control and security services.
However, experts warn that SASE implementations often fail due to inadequate underlying connectivity. Because SASE fundamentally changes traffic flows—moving data dynamically between users, cloud regions, and security enforcement points—the underlying connection infrastructure must be specifically designed to handle these new patterns to avoid performance issues.
