Timbiriche members reject ViX biographical series

Six original members of the Mexican musical group Timbiriche—Sasha Sokol, Alix Bauer, Diego Schoening, Mariana Garza, Erik Rubín, and Benny Ibarra—have issued a joint statement distancing themselves from an upcoming biographical series on the ViX streaming platform. The artists assert they did not participate in the production, were not consulted regarding the narrative, and did not authorize the use of their image, voice, or identity.

The group expressed concern that the eight-episode series, described as a fictionalized story inspired by real events, may blend fact with fiction in a way that impacts their personal lives and families. They emphasized that the production does not represent the history of Timbiriche as told by its actual members.

A central point of contention involves the portrayal of Sasha Sokol and her legal history with producer Luis de Llano. Sokol has indicated she is evaluating potential legal action to prevent revictimization, particularly regarding the depiction of past abuse she has previously addressed in court. While series producer Pablo Cruz maintains the project is a research-based homage inspired by public information, the former members maintain that the production lacks their consent and respect for their lived experiences.
