Sashastra Seema Bal honors Kakori Train Action revolutionaries
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) paid tribute to the Indian revolutionaries involved in the Kakori Train Action, commemorating the anniversary of the event that occurred on August 9, 1925.
Organized by the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association (HSRA), the action involved stopping a train near Kakori in Uttar Pradesh to seize funds intended for the British treasury. The revolutionaries, including Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqulla Khan, and Chandrashekhar Azad, aimed to use the money to purchase weaponry for the independence movement. The group specifically targeted tax money and did not touch passengers' personal belongings.
Following the incident, several revolutionaries faced severe legal consequences. Bismil, Roshan Singh, Lahiri, and Khan were sentenced to death, while others received long-term imprisonment or deportation to the Cellular Jail in the Andamans.
