Sashka Vaseva celebrates 60th birthday and upcoming career milestone
Bulgarian pop-folk singer Sashka Vaseva, often referred to as the ‘Dupnitsa Madonna’, is celebrating her 60th birthday. Born in Dupnitsa on October 12, 1966, Vaseva rose to prominence in the 1990s, particularly through her involvement with the ‘Pirin Folk’ festival.
Her career highlights include the 1995 hit ‘Ne moga da te zabravya, Georgi’ and participation in reality television programs such as ‘VIP Dance’ and ‘VIP Brother’. Despite her musical success, she has faced significant personal and health challenges, including a brain tumor diagnosis in 2021 and vision loss due to optic nerve atrophy.
Vaseva is planning a major milestone for 2027, which will coincide with both the 35th anniversary of the ‘Pirin Folk’ festival and her own 35th anniversary on the musical stage. The celebration is expected to feature a large-scale spectacle dedicated to the history of the genre.
