Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame inducts six new members

The Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame announced the induction of six individuals who have shaped the province’s baseball heritage.

Stan Montgomery, a Moose Jaw police officer, helped launch the career of future star David George by covering the family’s fee for youth baseball. Trevor Drury, former provincial supervisor of Baseball Saskatchewan and past president, was honored for his work as an instructor, evaluator and umpire at national and international events.

Peter Duncan, the first Canadian named to the All‑Pacific Eight team at Washington State University and former Kansas City Royals prospect, was recognized for his playing and coaching contributions, including founding the Red Deer Riggers. David George, a longtime North Battleford Beavers player, coach and umpire, was celebrated for his three‑decade involvement and for mentoring his son Andrew, who reached Major League Baseball. Tony Kuffner, a Regina‑based fastball league player from the 1970s‑80s, was also inducted for his impact on the sport in the province.
