Saskatchewan dominates opening game of 19U Women’s Baseball Nationals
The 2026 19U Women’s Baseball National Championships were held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, with seven provincial teams competing over four days at Cairns Field and Leakos Field. About 150 athletes took part, and the host province aimed to improve on its bronze finish from the previous year.
In the tournament opener, Team Saskatchewan defeated Manitoba 5‑0. Player of the game Birdsall went 4‑for‑4 with four RBIs, while teammates Victoria Bateman and Criseyde Borthwick also contributed runs. Pitcher Makenna Dobrowolsky limited Manitoba to one hit over four innings, recording five strikeouts. Coach Tony Black praised the team’s offensive firepower and defensive effort, noting the strong start set the tone for the rest of the competition.
