Saskatchewan politician faces scrutiny over private jet use
The Saskatchewan NDP is demanding financial proof from Saskatchewan Party MLA Kevin Weedmark regarding the use of a private jet for provincial travel. Weedmark, the legislature member for Moosomin-Montmartre, stated that he used the aircraft to attend various government announcements on August 27, including stops in Lloydminster, Saskatoon, and Regina, because driving would have been impractical.
Weedmark maintains that “there were no taxpayer dollars involved” and that the trip was paid for out of his own pocket. However, the NDP has called for him to provide receipts to verify this claim. NDP health critic Meara Conway criticized the politician as being “out of touch,” noting that other cabinet and caucus members attended the same events without utilizing private air travel. The controversy gained attention following a social media video posted by a woman who appeared to be traveling on the jet, which has since been deleted.
