Saskatchewan Roughriders face Ottawa Redblacks with mounting injuries
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are heading into their Friday home game against the Ottawa Redblacks at Mosaic Stadium with a growing injury list. Key players sidelined include wide receiver Sam Emilus (foot), slotback Kian Schaffer‑Baker (knee), fullback Albert Awachie (ankle), cornerback Tevaughn Campbell (forearm) and running back A.J. Ouellette (knee). Defensive backs Rolan Milligan and Zack Fry are also on the injured reserve. Head coach Corey Mace said the team is adopting a “next‑man‑up” mentality, emphasizing depth and the ability of backups such as Johnny Johnson III, Dhel Duncan‑Busby and D’Sean Mimbs to step in. Quarterback Trevor Harris highlighted the locker‑room’s belief in each player’s role. Despite the setbacks, the Roughriders secured a 28‑26 win over the Edmonton Elks the week before and aim to repeat the effort against Ottawa.
