Saskatchewan Roughriders captain Jayden Dalke killed in car crash
Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker and team captain Jayden Dalke, 30, died on July 18‑19, 2026 in a two‑vehicle collision on Highway 11 between Lumsden and Regina, Saskatchewan. Police said Dalke was travelling north in the southbound lane when his SUV struck another vehicle driven by 22‑year‑old Bhishma Rajyaguru of Regina; both drivers were killed at the scene.
RCMP investigators found alcohol and cannabis in Dalke’s vehicle and plan autopsies and toxicology tests. The Roughriders cancelled practice and issued a statement calling Dalke “a relentless warrior” whose determination and work ethic inspired teammates. CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston said the league had lost “a passionate competitor… a Canadian brother and a friend.” Dalke was a sixth‑round 2022 draft pick, appeared in 68 CFL games, and helped Saskatchewan win the 2025 Grey Cup.
