Saskatoon firefighters rescue man from dog park drain grate

Saskatoon firefighters rescued a man who became stuck in a large drainage pipe grate at Silverwood Dog Park on a Friday night. The Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD) responded to the off-leash park near the Silverwood Golf Course around 8 p.m.

To complete the rescue, crews utilized two rescue trucks, cut through the metal grating, and employed a rope system to lift the man from the pipe. Paramedics treated the individual following the incident, though his age and medical condition were not released.

Separately, the City of Saskatoon has noted that the Silverwood Dog Park area will be affected by the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Biosolids Pipeline Corridor Project during the 2026 construction season. This project involves replacing aging underground pipelines that transport biosolids.
