Saskatoon hosts opening night of Rock the River festival

The 12th annual Rock the River music festival commenced in Saskatoon with an opening night at Rotary Park on August 15, 2026. Approximately 3,000 fans attended the event, which was held at a new location following previous years at Bessborough Gardens.

Heavy rainfall briefly interrupted the performances for safety reasons, including a set by the band Sloan. Despite the downpour, organizers and attendees noted that the larger festival space allowed for a different experience and the ability to attract larger musical acts. The opening night featured performances by Limblifter and Sloan, with Everclear scheduled as a headliner.
