Saskatoon River Search for Missing Woman and Dog
On July 31, 2026, a woman and her dog were reported in the South Saskatchewan River near Spadina Crescent East and Ravine Drive in north Saskatoon. The Saskatoon Fire Department dive team began a water and riverbank search, initially sending a diver for about an hour without success.
The City of Saskatoon coordinated additional resources, including sonar scanning to detect anomalies beneath the water and drone surveillance from the Saskatoon Police Service and the Corman Park Police Service. Search teams operated on a grid pattern, and further dive crews were prepared to investigate any sonar‑identified targets. By mid‑afternoon, neither the woman nor the dog had been located, and fire chief Jeff Wegren said the operation remained hopeful for a rescue but could become a recovery.
