Sasol to invest over $143 million in Mozambique community projects by 2030
Sasol, the South African petrochemical multinational, has announced plans to invest a total of over $143 million in social responsibility projects in Mozambique by 2030. This cumulative figure includes more than $100 million invested since the company began operations in the country in 2000.
As part of its immediate strategy, Sasol has approved $43 million for projects benefiting 70 communities in the northern districts of Inhambane province. These initiatives, implemented through Local Development Agreements, focus on improving access to water and sanitation, rural electrification through partnerships with Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), and the construction of essential infrastructure such as bridges, health centers, and roads.
The company also aims to foster economic development through vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and the integration of smallholder farmers into agricultural value chains to strengthen household resilience.
