Sassano hosts 16th edition of Emigrant Festival

The town of Sassano hosted the 16th edition of ‘La Festa dell’Emigrante’, a community event designed to honor citizens who moved abroad and to maintain their connection to their hometown and traditions.

The celebration featured a variety of cultural activities, including the presentation of the book ‘Nel nome della famiglia. Una storia vera’ by Nicoletta Di Noia. Musical performances included a jazz and bossa nova tribute to Ornella Vanoni by the group Nero Avorio, featuring artists Antonio Porpora, Raffaele Pepe, Fabio Laino, and Annalisa Biancamano.

To commemorate the history of migration, the local theater group ‘Pasquale Petrizzo’ performed in the historic center, beginning at the newly inaugurated ‘Casa dell’Emigrante’. Additionally, the event included a charitable component with a dedicated stand to collect donations for victims of the earthquake in Venezuela.
