Sassari hosts finals of international ‘Scrivere in Jazz’ competition

The 19th edition of the international jazz composition competition, ‘Scrivere in Jazz’, will hold its finals on September 10 and 11 at the Teatro Verdi in Sassari, Italy. The competition attracted 64 scores from various countries, including Austria, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, and China, alongside participants from across Italy.

Nine finalist works will be performed by the Orchestra Jazz della Sardegna (OJS). The competition is divided into three sections: Section A focuses on Sardinian music, specifically the ‘Dillu’ dance; Section B is reserved for music conservatory students performing original free-theme compositions; and Section C is dedicated to arrangements of works by Enrico Pieranunzi.

On September 11, Enrico Pieranunzi will appear as a solo guest. The event will include a performance titled ‘OJS Plays Enrico Pieranunzi’, featuring arrangements by Pieranunzi and Michele Corcella, followed by the announcement of the competition winners.
