Sassari members defect from Roberto Vannacci’s Futuro Nazionale
A political dispute has emerged in Sassari, Italy, involving the movement Futuro Nazionale, led by Roberto Vannacci. Approximately 500 members from committee 643, headed by former regional councilor Marcello Orrù, have announced their intention to leave the movement to join Marco Rizzo’s new political formation, Italia Domani.
Orrù cited fundamental political differences as the reason for the departure, specifically noting that Rizzo holds a more decisive stance on exiting the Euro and the European Union compared to Vannacci. Orrù has pledged to demonstrate the legitimacy of these members at the founding congress of Italia Domani on October 3.
However, the mass defection has faced scrutiny regarding the authenticity of the membership. Gianluca Dessì, a representative for Futuro Nazionale in Sardinia, has raised concerns, alleging that nearly all 488 members listed provided the same email address, telephone number, and a single residential address belonging to a newsstand in Sassari. Dessì suggested the move was motivated by Orrù seeking political roles within the movement.
