Sassari prepares for the Candelieri Medi procession

The city of Sassari is preparing for the "Candelieri Medi" procession on Monday, August 10, a significant event leading up to the main Faradda festivities on August 14. The parade will feature sixteen wooden columns, inspired by the larger ceremonial candles, traveling from Largo Cavallotti through the historic center to the Church of Santa Maria.

Mayor Giuseppe Mascia is scheduled to present commemorative medals to participants at 16:00, with the procession officially departing at 17:00. The event serves as a deeply rooted tradition of faith and community, involving various local corporations and neighborhoods.

Extensive traffic restrictions and public safety measures will be in place. Several streets in the city center, including Corso Vittorio Emanuele II and Corso Vico, will face closures. Additionally, regulations prohibit the sale and consumption of beverages in glass or cans within the procession area from 14:00 on August 10 until 08:00 on August 11. Vendors are required to use biocompostable materials, and music emissions are prohibited during the passage of the candles.
